Build Bike EX from scratch

At Uber, we specialize in understanding and learning about urban mobility and all the problems therein. However, it didn’t take much data wizardry to learn that short distance trips are expensive, commuting during rush hour is a traffic nightmare, public transit is inflexible, and often times slow and unreliable.

Biking is a great way around a lot of these issues. However, standard bike ownership comes with its own challenges. To name a few; a good bike isn’t cheap, and finding a safe place to park and store your bicycle isn’t easy. Additionally, riding up hills (Especially here in San Francisco) is super tough, unless you happen to be supercharged with gamma radiation, but most likely you will show up to work looking like you just got out of hot yoga.

I was a lead designer for bike & scooter experience on uber and jump app from the beginning of this team.  I have closely worked with product, research, marketing and operations from early concept explorations to final product designs. I shipped 13 features incrementally starting from Sep, 2017 to present.

Users land on On-ride state after unlocking. They are able to check the duration of trip and battery range left in real time.

Once users park and lock their vehicle, we send push notification and show this screen to convince users that their vehicle is locked.

We provide grace period for users to keep their vehicle.

It automatically ends a ride in one minute if users don’t take any action.

As soon as a ride ends, users prompt to see a trip summary. They can see whole routes they rode and share with their friends.
